V přístavu Šahíd Radžáí ve městě Bandar Abbás na jihu Íránu došlo k obrovskému výbuchu. Oddělení řízení mimořádných událostí provincie Hormozgan oznámilo, že v důsledku výbuchu bylo zraněno 516 osob.
K výbuchu došlo v době, kdy Írán zahájil třetí kolo jednání s USA v Ománu, ale příčina výbuchu zatím není známa.

Íránská média informovala, že výbuch způsobilo několik kontejnerů uskladněných v přístavní oblasti. Zatímco zranění byli převezeni do nemocnice, některé místní zdroje tvrdí, že při incidentu zahynulo velké množství pracovníků přístavu.
Úřady oznámily, že provoz přístavu byl přerušen, aby se uhasil požár, který po výbuchu vypukl.
